Why do I get a security warning when I check out?
This is a function of the preferences that are set on
your browser. Sugarcraft.com subscribes to the highest level of security
available on the Internet to protect you and your personal information.
However, if you request that your browser warn you when you are leaving
a secure section of a site (such as the credit card page) you will receive
this warning message.
If you prefer not to see this security message, go to “Tools”, “Options” and select the tab marked “Advanced.” You can then deselect this option in your browser.
Our page where you add your credit card information IS secure. It resides in a completely secure area and is always secure. It never moves and never changes location. You can easily tell if pages are secure. At the bottom of the screen, when on the secure page, there is a ‘lock’. It is open on other pages but closed on the secure page. Also, all pages beginning with https are secure locked pages. Our shopping cart resides on a completely professionally run website also.
You say you don’t keep credit card info. Then why does
my credit card field automatically fill in on your forms?
When a form fills in on your computer, it means that
your browser is allowing your computer to “remember” specific information.
Originally, this was intended to keep users from having to fill in the
same information over and over again. However, in today’s world, this can
be a major security risk.
In Internet Explorer, Go to “Tools”, choose “Internet Options” and click on the tab labeled “Content” On the bottom of this screen, under the subtitle “Personal Information” click on “Auto Complete”. Make sure that the check box next to Web Forms is not checked.
Unsecure CELL or CORDLESS?
CELL or CORDLESS phones: Are you aware that these calls
may be monitored and listened in on within a radius of several miles around
you? People can own a scanner that is on at all times scanning for phone
calls being made on cordless phones so they can listen in. When you start
talking this activates it. Anything you say can be listened in on. This
is SUPER dangerous when it comes to giving your name/address and credit
card information by these phones!!!! This is how identity theft occurs!
Don't do it!
The other way people steal your credit card information is wherever you use it. This includes down the street at your local supermarket. Using our shopping cart to process your order is far safer than local shopping.
IF YOUR CREDIT CARD NUMBER DOES GET STOLEN:
You are not the one who pays. It will be the store that
was dumb enough to not check the information more thoroughly when they
processed it. The machines available now check name and address. Then if
we still don't feel safe, we ask for more identity. If this identity is
not supplied, we do not ship. This is done with International orders more
than locally. Of course thieves back out. (Sometimes thieves get pretty
angry with us for asking too!) Trustworthy honest people see no problem
with safety measures. Just think, if we ask for further identification
(copies of card etc), we already have the card number and your name/address.
You are not exposing any more than we already have. I have been asked for
faxed copies of my card and drivers license when ordering on the web. I
saw no problem with sending it at all.
IF your credit card IS ever stolen:
Many times your credit card company will alert you before
you are aware of it even. Danger signals go up when odd items you usually
never buy are made. Or, from out of country. If theft has occurred the
credit company will cancel the card immediately upon their calling you
or your calling them. A new credit card will be issued right away.
Does this help? I sure hope so. It gives me nightmares
from all the people who insist on not using their credit card over our
secure shopping cart, then call on a cordless or cell phone to give the
information!
