The Creepiest Cranium Cake
If this creature doesn’t scare the dead, we don’t know what will. Our skull cake is covered with fondant tinted in realistic and creepy shades. The hanging eyeball adds the finishing touch.

Ready-To-Use White Rolled Fondant

Bake cake according to package directions. Prepare to be covered with fondant by lightly icing with buttercream.

Cover face with skin tone combination color fondant. Cut out where mouth is and cover area with black fondant.

To make gums, use Red-Red/Brown combination fondant and make two thin logs and attach with damp brush. Lighten skin tone with a small amount of white and cut out teeth; attach with damp brush. Roll two logs for lips; attach with damp brush.

For eyes, roll two 1 1/4 in. balls and attach. Use large opening of a standard tip to cut out skin tone eyelids and attach with damp brush. Roll thin logs for eye muscles and attach from eyeball to socket.

Use modeling sticks from kit to imprint wrinkles and details. Brush Black, Red-Red and Ivory icing color details to add dimension to face.

Heavy Glaze Recipe
Makes: Cake serves 12.

Heavy Glaze
Medium saucepan 
Ingredients:
1/4 cup whole milk 
2 1/2 cups Powdered sugar 

instructions
Heat milk in medium saucepan. Slowly add powdered sugar, stirring gently so as not to add air bubbles. Keep stirring until all powdered sugar is incorporated and mixture is smooth. Keep mixture warm or it will crust over quickly.

Bake and cool cake according to package directions.

Level cakes, trimming to rim. Fill halves with thinned buttercream icing and place pieces together. Place skull on cooling grid positioned over jelly roll pan.

Fill decorating bag with glaze and cut tip off bag with an opening similar to a tip 3. Quickly cover the back of skull with glaze. If necessary, take a wet spatula to smooth glaze as it cools. Repeat process for front half. Carefully smooth the glaze in the eye sockets and nose. Remove glaze from missing teeth area.

Brush black sparkle gel into eye sockets, nose and missing teeth area. Take edge of brush to mark individual teeth.



Powdered Face Cake
This has to be one of the easiest Halloween treats to make, ever. Just bake cake and brush with confectioners’. This spooky white, pale-faced skull with be the center of attention on your dessert table.

Bake and cool cake according to package directions. Level cakes, trimming to rim. Fill halves with thinned buttercream icing and place pieces together. Dust cake with brush dipped in confectioners’ sugar, leaving eyes, nose and random teeth plain.

2 ounces Ready-To-Use White Rolled Fondant
Piping Gel

Confectioner's Sugar Glaze Icing 
Makes: Cake serves 12.

instructions
*Combine Lemon Yellow and Leaf Green for green shown.

Tint fondant as follows: 1/2 oz. black, 1/2 oz. green, 1 oz.

Roll out two 3/4 in. yellow fondant balls for eyes. Roll green and black fondant 1/16 in. thick and cut yellow iris with the small open end of tip 2A and black pupil with small open end of tip 12. Attach irises and pupils to eyes with damp brush; let dry. Draw bloodshot eyes with Red FoodWriter.

Bake and cool cake. Assemble according to package directions. Brush with pastry brush and confectionery sugar glaze icing.

Attach eyeballs to cake with glaze. Tint piping gel green, place in cut parchment bag and pipe details on face.

instructions
Bake and cool cake. Trim off nose and fill in eyes and teeth with buttercream.

Lightly ice each side of cake with buttercream and cover with fondant. Assemble according to package directions.

Mix icing colors with vanilla extract and paint designs on face. Add gold pearl dust details. Let dry.
