2. Use a 1 1/2-in. square cutter, turned sideways, to imprint diamonds on the fondant.
3. Use dark brown or chocolate fondant to roll two small balls for the bear’s eyes, and flatten with a ball tool. Create a slightly larger ball for the bear’s nose.
4. Create the bear’s arm by rolling brown fondant on a towel to about 2 1/2 ins. in length, flattening one end slightly. On the other end, attach with water a disc of brown fondant for the paw.
5. For a large pocket on the other side of the bag, sheet a piece of pink fondant slightly smaller the cake. Again, imprint it with diamonds. Place it over folded cardboard until dry, creating a pocket shape.
second row down:
6. To attach the pockets, place them on each side of the bag and trace the outlines. Then, tint white chocolate with pink color. First attach two of the bottles to the side of the cake using the chocolate and dowels to support the weight. Remove the toothpicks, and pipe along the traced outlines of the pockets. Attach the fondant pockets and hold them in place with toothpicks along the bottom until the chocolate is dry and the pockets are firmly adhered to the cake.
7. Cut thin strips of pink fondant, about 1/2 in. wide, to trim the edges of the cake, pockets and top of the bag. Use water to attach the strips to the cake, and use a ball tool to make indentations in the strips of fondant. Create the bag’s handles by cutting wider strips, about 2 ins. wide, of pink fondant. Attach the straps to the cake using the tinted chocolate and dowels to anchor them. Again, use the ball tool to make indentations along each side of the straps. Remove the dowels once the chocolate is dry.
8. To create the teddy bear, roll brown fondant into a ball on a towel to create a textured head. Use a small ball to create two indentations for eyes.
9. Attach the snout using water to the bottom half of the bear’s head. With a ball tool, indent the top of the snout for the nose, and then using the edge of the tool, create the markings for the bear’s mouth.

10. Roll two small balls for the
bear’s ears, and flatten the bottom portion with a ball tool.
11. Attach the ears with water or chocolate and use toothpicks to help support the weight.
12. Insert a dowel in one side of the cake and place the bear’s head over the dowel. Then, place the arm under the head, using water to adhere it to the cake.
13. Cut four strips of white fondant. Fold two into bows. On one end of the remaining strips, cut inverted “v”s for ribbons. Place the ribbons and bow under the bear’s head. Add a small strip of white fondant where the bows join for the knot. If you have a ribbon cutter, this is easier.
14. With a petal flower cutter, punch out four brown fondant flowers, and place one at the end of each of the bag’s straps. Indent the center with a ball tool. Roll small balls of pink fondant, and place them in the center of the brown flowers. Create a small indentation in the pink centers.

15. Cut a square of dark pink fondant
and texturize with an embossed
rolling pin. Place the blanket on top of the cake, behind the bear’s
head and hanging into the pocket of the bag.
16. For the tops of the bottles, roll discs of pink fondant about 1 1/2 ins. to 2 ins. in diameter. Use a toothpick or marking tool to striate the edge. Indent the center with a ball tool.
17. To make bottles, roll white fondant to about 1 1/2 ins. to 2 ins. in diameter and trim to about 4 ins. long. You will need three bottles to complete the design.
18. Place the third bottle on top of the cake, using a dowel and tinted chocolate to hold it upright.
19. Cut small pink hearts out of fondant and attach them to the outsides of the bottles with water.

20. To create a bib, cut a circle out of white fondant, and use a round cutter to trim out a half circle out of one side. With a ball tool, flatten the perimeter of the bib.
21. Place a rope of brown fondant around the edge of the bib, allowing the ends to extend beyond the top for ties.
22. Place the bib on top of the cake and tie the ends into a bow. With a cut paper tube, pipe “Baby” in pink across the bib.
23. For a pacifier, roll a disc of pink fondant and press two sides together. Then, use a ball tool to create an indentation on top of the disc. With a smaller ball tool, press a row of indentations around the edge of the disc.
24. Shape the pacifier’s nipple out of tan fondant, and place in the center of the pink disc.
last row:
25. Place the pacifier on top a brown disc of fondant on top of the cake.
26. Use a cut paper tube to pipe
pink dots on the teddy bear’s white bow. To finish the design, use the
same tube to pipe “BABY” between the bottles cut outs on the cake board.
