Surfer Cake with wave

Products | Home | List of cakes

This cake was found on the cover of a sale catalog. So I am going to give you BASIC directions of how I think it was done...or how I would do it. We carry the Lilo products, surf boards, palm trees, fish, candles etc shown there. Link
NEEDED:
10" round cake pan (one pan holds 1 cake mix in each pan)
Part of a sheet cake (for the 'wave') - or use cardboard maybe
Toasted coconut - or brown sugar or cinnamon sugar-mix gran sugar & cinnamon or, simply use light tan icing and make 'squiglys' all over that part for sand
Lilo products
Palm Tree 5 in #P-1681
Fondant icing for tree trunk (this icing can be molded...is like a dough. I would insert a straw, make the tree around the straw for sturdiness, down through the cake too, up to where you want the tree to start bending..
Tropical Fish assorted colorful 6 pc #F-458
Candles
Other products for water themes
Food coloring: orange, blue
Icing, blue and white, at least one container of blue and 3 lbs white, orange for tree trunk
Tree
INSTRUCTIONS
Bake a 10 inch round 2-layer cake. Fill and ice. Immediately, before icing crusts, press on toasted coconut for 'sand'.
Place a cut piece of ANOTHER cake on the top edge for the surf.
Using a star tip (about size 18 or 20), cover the 'water' part with long drawn  out lines using blue first, then white icing between to look like foam.
