How To Make a Christmas Tree Using Geraldine's Holly Plungers!

Plunger Cutters
The holiday season is here! It's time to share with family and friends, what better way than doing this project together. These are the step by step instructions to get started!

For this project you will need:

    * White Fondant
    * Coloring: Forest Green
    * Rolling Pin
    * Rolling Board
    * Sugar Pearls: Red- #FSPR, Yellow- #FSPY, White- #FSPWT
    * Metal Spatula
    * Holly Leaf Plunger Cutters- #GC009 (sizes used: medium and small)
    * ML Royal Icing Mix- #MLRIP1
    * Piping Gel
    * Corn Starch
    * Non-Toxic Pearl Dust - dark green
    * Tips 1 and 5

Step 1:

    * Knead the colours with the white sugar paste until desired colour.

Step 2:

    * Spread a small amount of corn starch on the work surface to prevent the sugar paste from sticking?
    * Roll the sugar paste with the rolling pin until desired thickness.

Step 3:

    * Cut the leaves with the plungers. Cut as many as desired to decorate the entire tree. Cut medium and small leaves. Don't forget to press down on the plunger if you want the veined pattern.

Step 4:

    * Spread a little corn starch on the shaper.
    * Place the leaves in the shaper and allow to  completely dry.

Step 5:

    * Spread, with a spatula, a small coating of piping gel on the surface of the ice cream cone.

Step 6:

    * Cover the entire surface of the ice cream cone with sugar paste.

Step 7:

    * Pipe a small amount of royal icing on the back of the leaves. This will act as the glue.

Step 8:

    * Pipe a small amount of royal icing on some of the leaves and place the sugar pearls. Repeat this step as many times as desired.

TIPS:
N.B. In order to decorate a regular size ice cream cone (as shown in pictures above), you will need 50 medium leaves and 10 small leaves.

N.B. Before undertaking the task of making or commissioning a decorator to create this type of decoration, you should take the amount of time, effort and supplies this project needs into consideration as this will affect your pricing. Remember that by following the steps outlined above carefully, you can get the desired result.

We want to thank Julie Stewart for her wonderful idea for another use of the Holly plungers!
