The loop bow is
great to put as a topper on a wedding cake, a decoration for a package
cake or a extra special piece for a birthday cake. Below are basic
instructions on how I make a loop bow. If you have any further questions
or pictures of a loop bow you would like to share, please fell free to
contact me.
Use a piece of
gumpaste, fondant, or candy clay about the size of a tennis ball

Pasta
Machine
I first will roll
about 1/2 of the dough thru my pasta machine to a medium thickness (#4)

Cutters
shown above
I then use a strip
cutter to cut about 30 strips from the dough. The pieces should be
about 1 in wide and the length will depend on the size needed for your
bow. I take the pan width and divide by 2 and then add one inch and
that should be the length of the strips
Example = bow
for the top of a 6in pan so (6/2)+1 = 4 inch strips

You could also
use a pizza cutter or knife to cut the strips. Take two strips out
to be the bow tails and then cut 2 strips in half to make thin little loops
for fill-ins

Hang the loops
over a dowel or large stick (about 1in wide)

Wet the ends alittle
and press them together to form a point

Allow all the
pieces to dry for about 24 hours. Paint or brush with a colored dust or
pearl dust for an extra sparkle

In a plastic bowl
that is about the size as the top of your cake place a piece of wax paper
with a glob of soft candy melts or royal icing for your "glue"

Place the bottom
row of loops in the bowl with some on their side and some flat. Add more
"glue" to the top of the ends and add another layer. Keep repeating
until you get the fullness and look you want

Allow the "glue"
to dry and then remove the bow my placing your hand on top of it and slowly
flipping into your hand and then flipping it top side up

Add any needed
fill-in loops and figure out placing of the tails. I usually "glue" a toothpick
to the bottom of the bow for extra support and stability when place on
top of the cake.

Here is your completed
project!
Good luck!!
