| Step 1
. |
Making the pistol:
* Colour a small
amount of paste very soft yellow with #C429 - Egg Yellow blossom tint.
* Mix a small
amount of egg yellow blossom tint with powdered gelatin and set aside.Take
a piece of #W20W - 20 gauge white wire, cut in half, and form a small hook
on one end.
* Roll the paste
into a sausage shape, and thread the wire through to approximately 2 cm
from the end of the paste; the wire should not come out the other end.
* Model the top
end of the pistol into a gentle, rounded triangle - mimicking that of a
real lily.
* Gently bend
the pistol forward, approximately 1/2 - 3/4 of the way up to give realistic
movement.
* When the pistol
shaping is complete; coat only the top (flat side of triangle) in piping
gel and dip into the egg yellow blossom tint and gelatin mixture.
* Set aside to
dry. *It is recommended that you place the pistol into a Styrofoam dummy
to dry standing up. |
| Step 2
. |
Dust 6 of the large white lily stamens
using #C445 - Terracotta blossom tint. Place stamens around pistol
as evenly as possible, filling all the spaces; tape stamen to pistol.
Set aside. |
Step 3
|
Colour your paste as desired and
begin rolling it out thinly. To prevent sticking, roll paste out
on a small amount of cornstarch. |
| Step 4
. |
Cut three petals using the medium
sized cutter from set, then cut another three petals using the large sized
cutter. |
| Step 5
. |
Place freshly cut petal onto the
centre of the #FDV008 - double sided lily veiner, place second side
of veiner on top - lining up the sides, and press firmly to achieve a veining
on petal. |
Step 6
|
Remove petal from veiner, place
onto a flower mat, and gently thin and ruffle the edges of your petal using
the #TMBM - medium sized metal ball tool. |
| Step 7
. |
Paint a small amount of water down
the centre of the petal. Place a wire over painted line of water,
and press to secure. |
Step 8
|
Bend the wire slightly, giving the
petal shape and movement. Place the petal over a 6” round styrofoam
cake dummy and allow to dry. * Remember to dry your petals with the wire
side down, as this is the back of your petal. |
| Step 9
. |
Once Petals have dried fully, begin
dusting. Dust the edges, and along the centre vein/wire with fuchsia
blossom tint #C431 *accent the petal as desired.* Next dust the veining/wire,
base and tip of petal using spring green blossom tint #C454. |
| Step 10
. |
Mix a small amount of piping gel,
#C425 - Burgandy blossom tint as well as #C431 - fuchsia blossom tint together
in a small bowl using a toothpick. Dot this mixture onto the petals,
staying closer to the base and the centre. Apply just a few dots per petal. |
| Step 11
. |
Assemble 3 larger sized petals around
stamen/pistol, and tape together, ensuring that the petals are evenly spaced. |
| Step 12
. |
Assemble and tape the remaining
3 smaller petals in place. Tape to bottom of wire and pull the petals open
to give flower appearance of being fully bloomed. |
