Creating your own beads is as easy
as:
|
*
Measure softened clay, hand roll, and place into one of the channels of
the base.
* Place the top
onto the base and slide back and forth.
* Pierce beads
with supplied pins, remove top and suspend for drying.
Begin by rolling one bead at a time
until you become familiar with these sets. Once you are experienced at
measuring clay and rolling a bead, you may roll each of all three shapes
at the same time, and perhaps a couple of each shape. When rolling multiple
beads in the same channel, be sure to leave space between amounts of clay
and space at each end! Accurate measuring of clay is essential to successful
beads.

Measuring
Flatten clay into one bead chamber
on top portion of bead roller (portion with alignment bar). Remove excess
clay using tissue blade to make level with top of chamber. Press raised
edge ruler into clay to mark. Remove clay from roller and use impressed
ruler marks to cut to size needed using the measurements listed here. It's
that EASY! |

Professional System Tri-Bead Roller
- Roll consistent, uniform beads in three popular shapes. A round 11mm,
oval 8x16mm or bicone shape 12mm beads. Includes four parts. A Roller Base
(1) that has three bead rolling channels including a narrow channel with
two holes down inside of it to hold the alignment bar. A Roller Top (2)
which looks very much like the base, but the narrow alignment channel has
no holes inside of it. An Alignment Bar (3) that has two small tabs that
snap into the two holes in the channel of the base. And a Measuring Ring
(4) to be used as a clay-measuring device. The Tri-Bead Roller is suitable
for use with many kinds of clay, including air-dry, polymer, and precious
metal clay.

Professional System Bead Rollers
Set 8 Rounds - This tool will allow you to make consistent, uniform
beads over and over. You can also pierce beads while they are inside the
roller, avoiding fingerprints and distortion from handling. This bead roller
makes five sizes of round beads - 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8mm. It also includes
pin path holes and bead piercing pins for use with the Bead Drying Rack.
By inserting the pin through the roller and the beads, they can be lifted
out and placed into the slot on the Bead Baking Rack.

Professional System Bead Rollers
Bicone Bead Roller Set - This bead roller makes five sizes of bicone
beads: 6, 10, 13, 16, and 22mm. The two center parts fit together in two
different ways to form the four smaller bicone beads. The top piece and
the base combine to make the 22mm (7/8") bicone bead. All beads are rolled
inside the base with either the two center parts or the top piece. One
of the center parts has two holes on each side. The other center part has
two pins on each side. There are raised registration lines on one end of
each of the pieces. The two lines should always be at the same end and
in line with each other when they are assembled correctly. When the two
center parts are assembled so the registration marks are close together,
you will be able to make the 6mm (1/4") and the 13mm (1/2") sized beads.
Switch the pieces so that the two lines are separated to form the 10mm
(3/8") and the 16mm (5/8") sized beads. When beads are rolled using the
center pieces, there is no additional “handle”. Simply hold the assembled
parts between your thumb and forefinger as you set it into the base over
a measured amount of clay and move it back and forth. The 7/8" roller top
is used only when rolling (or measuring clay for) the 22mm (7/8") size
bicone. #12533E $14.95

Round/Oval Bead Roller Set This
bead roller makes 13, 16, and 18mm round beads plus 13 and 18mm oval beads.
The base unit: The largest part has three channels, one for each of the
bead sizes. The 18mm channel has 3 dots on it, the 16mm has two dots, and
the 13mm has one dot. The dots identify which roller top to use in each
chamber. Oval roller tops are used in the base unit also. The top units:
Each round roller top has a ridge that runs along the top from the handle
to each end, and the identifying 1, 2, or 3 dots on it. The two oval tops
are marked with either one dot or three dots. Use them in the channel of
the base with the same number of dots. A bead can be formed with either
oval roller top in any of the three channels that the top will fit in but
a more perfectly shaped oval will result when used in the channel with
the same radius (same number of dots). #12531C $14.95

Professional Bead
Drying/Baking Rack - This handy tool makes drying beads or baking polymer
clay beads easier than ever before. After rolling bead(s), pierce with
one of the supplied piercing pins then place pin into one pair of notches
to suspend bead(s) for drying or baking. The Bead Drying/Baking Rack is
made of heavy-duty aluminum to withstand many uses and includes handles
to remove it easily from the oven. #12529A/039672-12529 $25.99

Instructions
Rolling the bead
Hand roll measured clay into a ball
and place in the chamber of the base for the bead shape you wish to create,
midway between the pin paths. Place the roller top over the base so that
the alignment channel in the top fits over the alignment bar in the base.
Holding the base stationary, move the top back and forth over the base.
The stroke length needs to be no longer than an inch or two. Move only
until bead is formed. Rapid, long strokes are unnecessary and could be
detrimental to success. Once formed, travel the bead as close as possible
to the pin path, using the top. Remove the top and center the bead directly
in the pin path.
Piercing the bead
Turn the base so you can see the
vertical alignment lines. Place the top over the base squarely, so the
vertical lines on the side of the top are in alignment with the lines on
the side of the base. A piercing pin can now be inserted into the small
pin path hole directly between the vertical alignment lines. The pin can
be inserted from either side. Inserting from the side farthest from the
formed bead helps align the pin straight. Hold the pin straight as you
pierce through the bead. The pin can be removed from the insertion side
after piercing part way through the bead and re-inserted into the other
side. Once the pin is completely through the bead, remove the top. Protect
pins from moisture. Clean pins with fine sand paper as needed.
Inspecting
The bead can now be picked up by
the pin and inspected without touching it. No fingerprints! If any distortion
occurred during the piercing, there is an area about an inch long on each
end of the roller where the bead can be gently re-rolled with the piercing
pin in place. The more accurately the clay is measured the less re-rolling
will be necessary.
Curing
Lift bead by the pin and suspend
for curing. The Bead Drying Rack is made for holding beads on these pins.
If using polymer clay, cure beads at temperature recommended by clay manufacturer.
To remove bead after curing, hold pin with pliers and twist cured bead.
Cleaning
Baby oil or mineral oil on a soft
cloth or paper towel is recommended to clean your rollers as needed. Always
wipe dry after cleaning. Avoid harsh chemicals and abrasive materials.
Protect bead piercing pins from moisture. Clean pins with fine sandpaper
as needed.
Tips for using
the Professional Bead Roller System
1. A small amount of clay can be
placed anywhere on the base where the top will contact it. That clay will
act as temporary “glue”, holding the top in place over the base during
piercing. Important: Clean that clay off before you roll the next bead.
2. To swirl color on oval shaped
beads, use multi colored clay, or add a tiny strip of a contrasting color
to a shaped bead and repeatedly re-roll the bead in the roller in ONE direction.
3. Sliding the tip of a pin along
the horizontal line where the top meets the base from the center towards
the pin-hole can assist finding the pinhole for insertion.
4. Holding a bead by its pin to add
texture or to re-shape can be done without touching the bead. Re-roll in
the re-roll portion of the roller if necessary. Re-shape the bead with
small flat object if desired.
5. To move a bead on a piercing pin
without touching the bead with fingers, make a hole in a small piece of
card stock or paper with a bead piercing pin. Run the pin through the hole
in the paper and use it to move the bead.
6. Lay bead piercing pin lengthwise
in roller base. Roll formed bead over it to create grooves in bead. Secure
each end of pin laid in the base channel with a tiny spot of clay.
