Stone Castle Cake

Cake pans: This impressive castle cake is a 10” square base with 6” square tier and 4” round tier.

1. Trim the white ends from the Designer Prints™ using a ribbon insertion tool with the pointed blade (#43-07PM) or an X-ACTO type razor knife. Return all Edible Image Designer Prints™ to the re-sealable bag until ready to use.

2. The tube towers are not cake but part of a castle kit available from Sugarcraft.com, or you can improvise these pieces from other food safe material. They can also be made from cardboard tubing covered with foil or from PVC water pipe.

3. A day ahead of cake assembly, roll out gumpaste and slightly moisten it. While it is flat, apply strips of Stone Designer Prints™ (Item #45065).

4. Measure and cut pieces to wrap around each tower. Seal with buttercream. Allow to dry over night for easy handling.

5. Mix some white fondant with Black Airbrush Color (Item #AB-5123) to make a gray fondant. Cut fondant pieces for door and windows and set aside.

6. Mix some white buttercream icing with Black Airbrush Color also to make a gray buttercream.

7. Ice cake with white buttercream and assemble.

8. Apply Stone Edible Image Designer prints on all three tiers as shown.

9. Add gray fondant accents and pipe gray buttercream to seal around edges.

10. Cover with Chocolate Rocks (Item #P-101-5) at the bottom edge border.

11.Mix icings using Green Airbrush Color (Item #AB-5101) and Nut Brown Airbrush Color (Item #AB-5134) to make light and dark green.

12. Use #3 plain round decorating tip to pipe green vines and #352 deep cut tip for leaves variegated with two shades of green.

13. Finish with Leafed Flower Charms Dec-Ons® Decorations (Item #14362) and Small Flowers Assortment (Item #MF111P).

Square Cake pans
Round Cake Pans
This cake really is fit for a queen! The base is a whopping 12” square by 4” tall cake. The bottom tier of the castle itself is made from two cakes:  a 6” square and a 6” round, cut in half to make an oval. For Two blocks of cake that are 2" by 2" by 4" tall form the door columns. The next tier is 4” square and 5” round, cut in half to make an oval. The top of the Pink Castle Cake is three large cupcakes.

1. Assemble and crumb ice the entire cake. Chill the cake for easy decorating.

2. Trim the white ends from the Designer Prints™ using a ribbon insertion tool with the pointed blade (Item #43381) or an X-Acto type razor knife. Return to resealable bag until ready to use.

3. Apply Stone Wall Designer Prints™ (Item #45065) to the base of the cake and to half of the middle tier, as shown.

4. Apply Damask Pink Designer Prints™ (Item #45051) and Damask Black Designer Prints™ (Item #45054) to the two upper tiers, as shown.

5. Use the Wood Designer Prints™ (Item #45056) to make the door and bridge.

6. A combination of icing techniques are used for this cake. Finish the top of the castle with fondant and buttercream, airbrushed with Pink Shimmer Airbrush Color (Item #AB-5142).

7. Pipe windows and trim with white buttercream icing with Black Airbrush Color (Item #AB-5123) also to make a gray buttercream.

. Use Blue Shimmer Airbrush Color (Item #AB-5144) to shimmer the water in your moat.

8. Finish the cake off with Fleur de Lis Dec-Ons® decorations (Item #43054 no longer sold-could make of chocolate mold in appropriate color of white chocolate), Swans Dec-Ons® (Item #43058) and Pretty Princess Dec-Ons® Assortment (Item #43671).
