INSTRUCTIONS:
To make a reverse copy of your design
:-
Place the perspex board over this
and pipe in the outline of the design. (don’t pipe in any veins, stamens
etc. ) – ALLOW TO DRY COMPLETELY
Press the piped design into the wet
plaque / Pettinice – you will now have an impression on the surface exactly
the same as the original design.
If you have a double layer of Pettinice,
you can cut thru the first layer to the second layer to create another
depth to the design. Make sure you have clean edges to the cut out and
then do exactly what you do to the rest of the design to this area as well.
Paint the design with a mixture of colour and alcohol. This is when you can put in all the fine details like stamens, shading and veins.
Apply your chosen lustre to areas of the picture to create the enamelled effect. (try either dry or wet lustre for different effects)
Pipe over the embossed lines with royal icing and allow to dry completely.
Paint the piping with lustre / alcohol mix.
Place two baking paper piping bags inside each other and half fill with piping gel. Heat in microwave, taking care not to make it too hot. – BE VERY CAREFUL!!!!
Flood the areas between the piped lines, using a damp fine paint brush to encourage the gel into all the details. – do not over fill as the gel will run everywhere.
The piping gel will always remain tacky, so be careful not to touch it or get “cloud” on it.
Make your 3-d elements bearing in
mind that they will need to be treated in exactly the same way as the rest
of the design, so don’t over complicate them.
Cut out shape, thin edges and dry
in interesting shapes.
Dust as with design. Add enamelling.
Pipe edges and allow to dry.
Lustre piping.
Flood with piping gel taking care
to start at the top edge of any petal and allow the gel to run down to
the centre, trying not to let it form a huge pool in the middle!
Attach the 3-D elements to the design
with royal icing.
