Guidelines for use of copyrighted Military emblems:

Consistent use of the symbol is crucial to institutionalizing its use. These guidelines allow Military people and organizations to begin applying the symbol in a consistent manner. This guidance is not comprehensive however, it covers many situations.
Department of Defense employees and their immediate families have an implied license to use the symbol on personal products such as printed materials, clothing, literature, briefings, coins, web sites, and food.

These items must be intended for internal use and not for retail sales, advertising or potential endorsements. Of course use of the symbol should adhere to Military guidelines. Commanders may use the symbol on "perishable" products and those involving
limited expense, such as printed materials, clothing, coins, etc.

Approved guidelines for using the symbol on base gates and water towers is available. The symbol should not be applied at this time to "non-perishable" uses such as Military aircraft and vehicles.

Commanders retain discretion to decide how the symbol is used in their organizations consistent with these guidelines.
