Q: What is different about this machine than the other Cricut machines?
All parts that come in contact with food are made from food safe plastic or stainless steel. This makes the Cricut Cake machine safe for cutting food materials. We have specially designed the blade and blade housing to cut food materials better. We've also added silicone covers to protect the machine and make clean up easier. This machine was specially designed for cutting food materials.
Q: What food materials can be cut with this machine?
Cricut Cake is designed to cut frosting sheets, gum paste, and fondant for baked goods, an can also be used to cut cookie dough, cheese, tortillas, modeling chocolate, gum, and various soft candies. This machine will cut through soft food materials. This will require you to experiment to get the right consistency of food and the proper settings on the machine.

Product FAQ

FAQ #1: VERY cool.. What type of edible paper do you use with this?
Answer: You use fondant or gumpaste. Cricut also has frosting sheets that are ready to use in Cricut Cake. We carry these sheets in white, brown, pastel & primary colors.

FAQ #2: Do you roll the fondant/gumpaste on the mat then insert to cut? how thin to you roll it out?
Answer: Roll out to 1/16" (thickness of 2 CDs)then place it on a greased mat, making sure to get all air bubbles out. Place in freezer for 30 minutes before cutting

Cover cookie with fondant. Insert popsicle stick.
Cut crown. Using Birthday Cakes cartridge and pink gum paste, cut one 2" <Crown2>. Freeze for easy handling.
Cut crown shadow. Using dark pink gum paste, select Plain Shadow Blackout feature and cut one 2" <Crown2>. Layer crown with royal icing. Freeze.
Adhere crown to cookie using royal icing. Adhere silver balls to crown as shown using royal icing.

Cut flower. Using Birthday Cakes cartridge and dark pink gum paste, cut one 3\\\\\\" for each cookie. Using pink gum paste, press Shift and cut one 3\\\\\\" for each cookie. Use royal icing to layer flowers on cookies as shown.
Fill flower centers with edible sugar pearls.
Optional: Place each cookie in a small cellophane bag and tie with ribbon.

Cover cake with fondant.
Cut filigree. Using Elegant Cakes cartridge and black gum paste, cut one 3 ½" <Flgree2>. Freeze 10 minutes for easy handling.
Cut borders. Using black gum paste, cut two 1 ¼" <Border13>. Freeze.
Cut monogram. Using black gum paste, select Font feature and cut one 1 ¼" letter of choice. Freeze.
Adhere cuts to cake using royal icing. Attach black cord around bottom of cake.
